About this site

Spirituality Media (the “site”, at spirituality-media.com) is edited and operated by Vincent Read (the “editor”). It has two parts: the Editions, complete editions of classic texts sold as printed books, and the Index, a catalogue of spiritual and philosophical media published on other platforms, with a lexicon and a journal.

Accepting these terms

By using the site you accept these terms. If you do not, please do not use it. The current version is the one published at spirituality-media.com/terms with the date shown above; using the site after a revision means accepting the revised terms.

What the site offers

• The presentation of the editions, with the texts each contains, their sources, their price, and a link to order the printed book.
• The Index: a searchable catalogue of media items with editorial notes (title, summary, themes, people), and links to the original media on the platforms that host it.
• The lexicon and the journal, written by the editor.
• A free Sunday newsletter and an optional account for saving favourites.

Reading the site is free and needs no account.

Buying a book

The editions are printed to order and sold by Lulu (Lulu Press, Inc., Morrisville, North Carolina, United States), which prints, packs and ships each copy. When you press an order button you leave this site for Lulu’s. The contract of sale is between you and Lulu, under Lulu’s terms of service: payment, delivery times, shipping costs, returns and replacement of a damaged or misprinted copy are handled by Lulu through its customer service.

Prices are shown in US dollars. Shipping is added at checkout at Lulu’s rates for your country; any customs duty or import tax outside the United States is yours. The site shows the price in force on the day; a reduced launch price, when one is shown, ends on the date stated next to it.

The editor remains answerable for the content of the book: a question about the text, a correction, or a copy that is complete but faulty in its editing goes to vhlread@icloud.com.

The editions and their method

Each edition gathers public-domain texts and translations, revised by the editor, with new translations of texts that were not otherwise available. The new translations and the revision were made with the help of an AI model, working from the ancient texts under the editor’s rules, and were checked by the editor, not by an academic specialist. Each book states this in its editor’s note. The editions are offered as careful work by one person, not as scholarly critical editions, and may contain errors; corrections are welcome and go into later printings.

Intellectual property

The editor’s work: the selection and arrangement of each edition, the revised and new translations, the notes, glossaries and indexes, the lexicon and journal, the summaries and taxonomy of the Index, the page design and the site itself are the property of Vincent Read and protected by copyright. The ancient texts and the translations that are in the public domain remain free for everyone; the revisions and new translations do not. You may quote short passages for review, study or citation with attribution and, online, a link; reproducing an edition in whole or in substantial part, or building a competing catalogue from the Index, requires written permission.

Others’ work: the media the Index points to (videos, books, podcasts and their thumbnails or excerpts) belongs to its authors, publishers and platforms. The site links to it and does not host it. A rights-holder who wants an item amended or removed may write to vhlread@icloud.com; it is done promptly.

Acceptable use

You agree not to try to gain access to the site’s database or infrastructure; not to run scrapers or automated traffic that burdens the site; not to use the site’s content to train a commercial AI model without permission; and not to present the editor’s work as your own.

Affiliate links

Some links in the Index to books and courses on Amazon and on course platforms are affiliate links: if you buy after clicking one, the site earns a small commission at no cost to you. As an Amazon Associate, Spirituality Media earns from qualifying purchases. Items are listed because they fit the Index, never because of a commission.

Disclaimers

Not advice. The site and the editions deal with spiritual, philosophical, religious and esoteric texts. Nothing on the site or in the books is medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, and the presence of an item in the Index is not an endorsement of its claims.

Best effort. Summaries, titles, attributions and the editorial apparatus of the books are produced with care, partly with AI assistance, and may contain errors. The editor corrects what is reported but does not warrant that every field or every line is correct, complete or current.

Availability. The site is provided as it is and as available, without a guarantee of uninterrupted access or of the permanence of any address.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, the editor is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from the use of the site or of the books, from decisions taken on the strength of their content, from interruptions, broken links, or the acts of the platforms and services the site relies on. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including your rights as a consumer under the law of your country; the sale of a book is governed by Lulu’s terms as said in section 04.

Other sites and platforms

The site links to Lulu for orders and to YouTube, Amazon, podcast and course platforms in the Index, and embeds YouTube players. Once you click through or press play, that service’s terms and privacy policy apply, which the editor does not control; the site is not responsible for their content or practices. Changes, law and contact

These terms may be revised; the date at the top is that of the last revision. They are governed by French law, and any dispute about them or about the use of the site goes before the competent French courts, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer-protection rules of your own country.
